Course Overview

The VTCT (ITEC) Level 2 Certificate in Mental Health Awareness builds on the foundational knowledge gained at Level 1 by providing a deeper exploration of mental health and a more comprehensive understanding of common mental health conditions.

Learners will examine a range of specific mental health conditions in greater depth, developing a clearer understanding of their possible causes, signs and symptoms, and the ways these conditions can affect an individual’s thoughts, emotions, behaviours, relationships, and daily functioning. The course also explores appropriate supportive strategies, helping learners understand how to respond with empathy, communicate effectively, encourage help-seeking, and provide appropriate support within the boundaries of their role.

In addition, learners will explore the psychological, social, cultural, workplace, and global factors that influence mental wellbeing, while gaining an understanding of key legislation, current developments in mental health care, and the services and support available. Common myths and misconceptions will also be addressed, enabling learners to develop a more informed, compassionate, and evidence-based perspective on mental health.

To reinforce learning, the course includes interactive workshops, case examples, role-play, and practical activities, including sessions such as Food and Mood, allowing learners to apply their knowledge to realistic scenarios and build confidence in recognising mental health concerns and responding with appropriate supportive.

Pre-requisite : Completed VTCT (ITEC) Level 1 Award in Mental Health Awareness

Who Should Attend

  • Duration: 6-8 months (Part-time, 1 lesson/week)

  • Mode: Blended learning (theory + 2 in-person hands-on workshops)

  • Time: 7:00 PM – 9:30 PM

  • Assessments: A multiple-choice theory exam 

  • Fee: $1,100 (Include Exam Fee) + $20 (Registration Fee) 

  • Funding Available: Eligible for SkillsFuture Credit (Singapore Citizens aged 25+) and UTAP (NTUC members only).

  • Graduation Requirements: 75% attendance & Pass in theory exam

How mental health is diagnosed, treated, and supported through professional care, early intervention, and social systems. Learning Outcome

By the end of the course, learners will have a stronger understanding of mental health and wellness, along with practical tools they can apply to manage and support people with the above mentioned mental conditions.
